Marko, a member of the Poco Marlins Swim Club, has recently been diagnosed with bone cancer is is currently undergoing treatment at Children’s Hospital. Poco Minor Hockey is hosting an event on February 11th. (details below) Let’s show our support!

Please spread the word that Poco Minor Hockey, will be hosting the Hockey Night in Poco for Marko on February 11th.  All proceeds from this event will be going to help Marko as he begins in battle with bone cancer.

Saturday, February 11th - POCO BLUE RINK:

6:30pm to 7:30pm: Coaches versus Coaches game (come out and cheer on your coaches!)

7:30pm to 7:50pm: Hockey 1 Mini Game (cheers on our future hockey stars)

7:50pm - Frisbee Toss (chance to win Canuck Tickets and other prizes!!)

8:00pm - AAA Rep Team Home Playoff Game

6:00pm to 8:30pm - Silent auction (Poco Rec Centre)

Registration for the 2012 season is scheduled to begin online on February 1st, 2012. In person registration will be held at Hyde Creek Rec Ctr on Saturday March 31st and Saturday April 14th from 1PM to 4PM. For new members to the club, please check our club event calendar for new swimmer evaluation for group placement which will be held at 7:30AM Sunday mornings in April ( excluding Easter Weekend) during our maintenance practice.

2012 Registration Fees:

Early Registration Fee:   $479 if paid in full between February 1 and March 31, 2012

or   $199 initial payment and $99 per month for May 1, June 1 and July 1, 2012 (Post Dated Cheques only)

Late Registration Fee:     $509 after March 31st until registration closes on April 15th, 2012

Since 2006, thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and donors, KidSport Tri-Cities has helped over 1500 youth to participate in organized sport including more than 480 in 2011 alone.  Our bi-annual used sporting goods sales are very important for us – putting quality used equipment in the hands of families and raising much needed funds to subsidize sport registration fees for families in need.

Registration for the 2012 Swim Season will open online in February 2012. Our swim season will start on Tuesday May 1st, 2012 at Centennial Outdoor Pool. Please check back for more details on registration fees, locations and additional information.

For new registrants, we will be holding evaluation sessions to determine group placement for athletes. Please check back again as evaluation dates and times will be posted on the team event calendar.

Bodyzone Fitness is providing a core training program called Youthfit for girls and boys ages 14-18. It will run on Thursday evenings starting January 5th, 2012. Space is limited. Cost is $80 per athlete. Bodyzone Fitness Classes . You can register here.

The Poco Marlins is now accepting enrolment for our winter maintenance program. This program is exclusive to Marlins Swimmers registered from the 2011 Season and is not available to the general public. Please visit our registration page to fill out the registration form and pay by credit card. Payment by cheque is ok too. Please use our contact page if you have any questions.

There is a new initiative underway to see that a new outdoor pool facility built in Port Coquitlam. Being that we’re in the very early stages of development, we wanted to show a preview of a design concept. The pool will replace Centennial Outdoor Pool which was built in 1958! The new facility will allow the Port Coquitlam Marlins host larger events and generate more revenue for local businesses and allow for expansion of aquatic and other programs as the current facilities are already at their limits. We are looking for support from the community to ensure that this project comes to life.
